Andy Sturdevant is an artist, writer and arts administrator living in South Minneapolis. He has written about art, history and culture for a variety of Twin Cities-based publications and websites, including mnartists.org, Rain Taxi, Art Review and Preview!, Mpls. St. Paul, and heavytable.com. His essays have also appeared in publications of the Walker Art Center and the Jerome Foundation. Andy writes a weekly column on arts and visual culture in Minneapolis-St. Paul for MinnPost. His first book, Potluck Supper with Meeting to Follow, will be published by Coffee House Press in 2013.
He also makes art and public projects! Using a variety of tools, mediums and approaches, Andy’s performances and interactions explore history, place and memory, and often invite the viewer to take part in this experience by adding his or her own knowledge. Most of these particular projects are outlined in the boxes below.
Andy is also Artists Resources Director at Springboard for the Arts in Lowertown St. Paul, where he runs a resource center and audio-visual library for artists and small arts organizations.
He was born in Ohio, raised in Kentucky and has lived in Minneapolis since 2005.
